El Encanto resort, Santa Barbara.
Scheduled to re-open in March, 2013, the restored El Encanto luxury resort – located close to downtown Santa Barbara, Calif., and about two hours from Los Angeles’s LAX airport – is the newest addition to the luxury Orient-Express brand.
El Encanto sits on a secluded, seven-acre, landscaped hilltop overlooking Santa Barbara and the Pacific Ocean.
The property includes 92 California-style bungalows (21 with ocean views) and 4,660 sq. ft. of indoor function space with a window-lined ballroom serving up to 300 people for a reception.
An additional 5,240 sq. ft. of outdoor space features the signature area adjacent to the restored trellis-lined arbor and lily pond.
Other amenities include a large outdoor swimming pool, an intimate but full-service spa, a fully equipped fitness centre and five food and beverage outlets with a combination of indoor and outdoor seating.
The Orient-Express portfolio extends to 45 hotel, cruise and luxury rail businesses in 22 countries.
