The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess has opened its new, $20-million, 52,331-sq.-ft. Palomino Conference Center.
With the property’s indoor/outdoor meeting and event space now totalling 156,000 sq. ft., the resort now ranks as the largest meetings hotel in the Fairmont chain.
The conference centre’s name and Southwest design were inspired by the Spanish horses that run wild in the Sonoran desert.
Key elements include “nano” tech bi-folding glass doors, helping bring the scenic desert indoors; larger and more flexible breakout areas; a dedicated porte-cochere; and a veranda with outdoor seating, for between-meetings breaks.
General manager Jack Miller says the conference centre is the cornerstone of the resort’s $60-million master renovation plan.
The project also includes renovations to the Princess Conference Center, the launch of the Well & Being program at Willow Stream Spa, the addition of a “living wall” to the resort’s facade and a revitalized Fragrance Garden for group events – all to be complete by spring, 2013.
