In anticipation of the new convention centre opening in downtown Halifax in January, 2016, here’s what’s new on the city’s hotel scene:
The 201-room Prince George Hotel is redecorating its largest meeting space, the 2,600-sq.-ft. Windsor Room. The project is expected to be unveiled in early March.
Halifax Marriott Harbourfront is in the midst of renovations that will include the addition of 4,600 sq. ft. of new meeting space, a renovated lobby and a new restaurant. The project is slated for completion by May.
Located downtown, Citadel Halifax Hotel is being transformed into a mixed-used facility with two hotels, Homewood Suites by Hilton and a Hampton hotel. Scheduled to open in the spring of 2014, the property will have a combined total of 316 guestrooms and a shared conference centre.
The Four Points Sheraton’s $1-million project to refresh guestrooms is expected to be completed by year’s end.
The 232-room Atlantica Hotel Halifax will have invested $3-million in renovations to most of their 9,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, half the guestrooms and the 110-seat restaurant. Look for a completion date around the end of 2013.
The Radisson Suite Hotel will close from Feb. 3 to the end of May for a $6-million renovation and expansion that will see the all-suite property grow to a total of 120 units. Areas being upgraded include the meeting rooms, lobby, fitness and pool areas and all suites.
