Jan Zandboer.
Select Group Marketing (SGM) has announced the appointment of Jan Zandboer as the company’s new owner and director, following the untimely loss of founder, colleague and president Moira Hearn.
“My goal is to build upon Moira’s esteemed 25-year legacy, which established SGM as Canada’s leading DMC representation company,” said Zandboer in a release.
SGM’s director of business development since 2011, Zandboer has over 30 years experience in the tourism and hospitality industries.
His resume includes Holland America Line, The Netherlands Board of Tourism and The RMR Group, as well as the marketing of high-profile tourist boards, hotels and airlines.
While Zandboer is excited about the challenges and opportunities afforded by his new position, his feelings are bittersweet.
“Moira was a friend and cherished colleague for 25 years,” he said. “When I arrived in Canada in 1987, she was one of the first MICE contacts I met, and an immediate friend. She never failed to inspire with her passion, extraordinary knowledge and dedication. She is, and will continue to be, greatly missed.”
