The new Prince Edward Island Convention Centre, set to open in August, in Charlottetown, will be connected to, and managed by, the 211-room Delta Prince Edward.
The downtown, harbourside development will include a multi-functional, 24,000-sq.-ft. ballroom, six breakout rooms, two permanent boardrooms, two conference offices, plus an outdoor patio accommodating 600 guests, reception-style.
Many guestrooms will offer views of the Charlottetown waterfront.
Combined, the hotel and convention centre will offer over 50,000 sq. ft. of space.
Michael Matthews, executive director of Meetings & Conventions PEI, says the new convention centre will allow the destination to “attract a larger scale and scope of meetings and conferences, with up to 1,500 delegates under one roof ” — triple the size the facility can now host.
