New York City is experiencing a hotel boom. Thirty new-builds are expected to open by the end of 2013, with room inventory expected to reach over 120,000 by 2015.
Hotels opened or reopened since October, 2012, include the completely renovated 774-room Westin New York Grand Central and the 106-room Wyndham Garden Chinatown, in Lower Manhattan.
For planners, four of the more significant additions to the city’s hotel inventory include:
The 173-room SpringHill Suites by Marriott, opening in December and offering easy access to LaGuardia Airport.
The 197-room Refinery New York, an industrial-chic property opening in early 2013 in the fashion district.
The 60-room Bronx Opera House Hotel, in a Beaux Arts building that once played host to performers such as George Burns and Houdini.
Scheduled for a late 2013 opening, The Hyatt Times Square is a brand-new build with 487 rooms located at the crossroads of business and theater.
