Nobu Development Coming to Toronto

Nobu Residences, Hotel & Restaurant

Madison Group, Westdale Properties and Nobu Hospitality have joined forces to develop the first Nobu-branded high-rise residences and Canada’s first Nobu Hotel and Nobu Restaurant.

Located on Mercer Street in Toronto’s Entertainment District, the development will feature two 49-storey towers, ground floor commercial retail, private social function and meeting space, a fitness centre and “Zen Garden” outdoor terrace. The towers will be constructed above the Pilkington Glass Factory, a heritage building. Its facade will be incorporated into the design.

Nobu is a luxury hospitality brand known for its award-winning, “new style” Japanese fusion cuisine and exceptional hotel offerings. It was founded by chef Nobu Matsuhisa, Academy Award-winner Robert De Niro and Hollywood producer Meir Teper.

Nobu Hotel Toronto will be a luxury property housed in the west tower of the development. Nobu Restaurant Toronto will feature a 15,000-square-foot (approx.), two-level restaurant with signature bar;  outdoor seating; and private dining rooms. Nobu Residences Toronto are being envisioned by Toronto-based Teeple Architects and interior design firm, Studio Munge. Pre-construction sales of the 700 residences will begin in summer 2017.

“For many years, we have searched for the perfect opportunity within Toronto to create a true luxury lifestyle destination befitting the acclaimed global city of Toronto and our international brand. We are truly excited to announce Nobu Residences, Hotel and Restaurant Toronto,” said Trevor Horwell, CEO, Nobu Hospitality. “Our partners at Madison Group have an extraordinary vision for the first Nobu Residences, and share our passion to build a truly special integrated residences, hotel and restaurant destination.”

“I cannot think of a singular place that has a more unique and impassioned sensibility than Nobu,” said Josh Zagdanski, vice-president-High Rise, Madison Group. “You see it in every nuance of its operation—from bespoke hotel suites to tranquil residences and dining experiences that make you say, ‘I could live here.’ We couldn’t be prouder to be working with the team at Nobu Hospitality to give residents and visitors the chance to live with that feeling in Toronto.”
