Novotel North America has promoted Michael Singer to the position of area general manager of all Toronto Novotel hotels.
Singer, who is currently general manager of Novotel North York, is a 25-year veteran of Accor, one of the world’s leading hotel operators.
“Michael is an incredibly talented manager and a vital part of our Accor family,” said Dominique Colliat, executive vice-president of Accor Hotel Services, North & Central America and the Caribbean region. “His sharp business acumen has led to the development and implementation of key strategies that have paved the way for Novotel’s success, and we are confident he will further elevate the brand with his results-driven and forward-thinking vision.”
Singer joined Accor in 1988 as general manager at Novotel Ipswich in the United Kingdom, then proceeded to hold senior-level positions in several locations, including general manager at Novotel London Heathrow, Novotel Mississauga and Novotel Toronto Centre.
In his new position, he will be responsible for the operations of all Novotel Toronto hotels as well as continuing on as GM of Novotel North York. His new responsibilities include creating a strategic plan for market growth in Toronto by implementing cohesive sales, PR and marketing activities among all properties; overseeing f&b profitability and assisting in conceptual culinary developments; monitoring growth of income; improving “flow” through the area hotels; and assisting individual properties as needed in increasing market share and business stability.
Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Singer earned a degree in hotel management from Henley College of Further Education in Coventry, UK.
