Two restaurants are planned for the TIFF Lightbox.
August 3, 2010
Oliver & Bonacini Restaurants will open O&B Canteen and Luma eateries, in the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Bell Lightbox, in August, with an event space, Malaparte, to follow in late fall.
Slated for mid-August, the main-level O&B Canteen will be a 3,500-sq.-ft. bistro offering eat-in dining and takeout. There will be space for 90, with an additional 70 on the patio.
More upscale is Luma, the second-level, 8,000-sq.-ft. restaurant and bar lounge. Expected to open in late August, it will serve globally inspired Canadian cuisine and seat about 230, with an additional 50 on the terrace.
Executive chef Jason Bangerter, of Auberge du Pommier, will direct culinary operations for both eateries, sure to be a favourite of meeting and event planners.
Opening in November, Malaparte, the sixth-floor event space, will feature a cityscape view and seating for 200.
Executive chef Jamie Meireles, of Oliver & Bonacini Events, will direct the cuisine for Malaparte and all on-site catering.
The TIFF Lightbox is located at the northeast corner of King and John Streets, in Toronto’s entertainment district.
