A new poll shows meeting and event planners are cautiously optimistic about the return of the meetings and incentives market.
Slightly more than half of the 200 North American meeting and incentive planners and suppliers polled following the IMEX trade show expressed this sentiment. Nine per cent said they were “very” optimistic.
IMEX organizers conducted the poll following the conclusion of the 2010 show, which took place May 25-27 in Frankfurt, Germany.
Canadian planners are even more optimistic, the poll revealed.
While one in five American planners doubt the meetings market is in recovery, Canadian buyers suggest the sector has rebounded faster because the Canadian economy was hit less severely.
The poll also suggests that North American meetings and incentive trips are held on shorter notice, are closer to home and are more focused on return-on-investment, than those held prior to the economic downturn.
