Papaya Playa, a Design Hotels project, opened Dec. 6 in Tulum, Mexico, and will operate until May 5, with ‘community’ at the core of its concept.
Ninety-nine cabanas have been refurbished by the Design Hotels creative team on a 2,900-ft. stretch of beach along the Caribbean Sea.
KaterHolzig, the most recent offshoot of Berlin’s Bar 25, will serve up seasonal local food from the grill or out of a clay oven. Their beach bar and the Papaya recording studio will host DJs and performing artists.
The venue will also curate an event series around Mayan full-moon rituals.
Organic eatery 42°RAW will provide plant-based food-on-the-go. To complete the resort’s holistic theme, So Happy Neo Spa will use Mayan shaman secrets to provide a variety of treatments.
