5 Tips to using meetingscanada.com

  1. Any search you do searches the entire content of the website and displays the results in order of most relevant to least. This includes listings, M&IT editorial stories, and any supporting documents advertisers have posted on our site. Like Google, the more general your search the more results you get.
  2. View multiple listings on a single interactive map helps you determine the distances between venues and services.
  3. Manage multiple RFP’s for multiple events. Our site will automatically archive all your RFP’s so you never have to worry about losing them.
  4. Download vCards (virtual business cards) directly to your contact management system. Simply click on the business card icon in any listing, select “Open” and then select “Save & Close”. The person’s information will automatically be saved in your contact program.
  5. You can also manage your subscription to M&IT magazine and newsletter by either keeping your profile up to date in meetingscanada.com or by clicking on the “subscription to magazine” link at the bottom of every web page.

Search Results
The search function searches the entire meetingscanada.com site looking for any matches to your query. The results are displayed from most relevant to least relevant. Relevancy is determined based on an algorithm that rates a number of criteria. To make the search function as user friendly as possible, it is possible that your search results may include seemingly obscure results. Here are some tips to help you search:

  • the more specific you are in your keyword search, the more refined the results will be
  • the search results also indicate what category or type of company was found, this will help you screen the types of organizations you are looking for
  • the advanced search {live link to this page} enables you to search on more variables than just keywords.

Mapping
From the search results page, you have the ability to view multiple organizations on a single Google map. Simply check off the organizations you wish to view and click on the “Map It” link to launch this feature.

Meetingscanada.com allows you to view maps for all organizations listed on the site. From the map results page, you can then provide a starting address to get directions to the location that you just mapped.

3 Tips to Maximize your Free Listing

  1. Keep your extended listing current. 90% of meeting planners research their meetings online. If they can’t contact you due to incomplete or incorrect information, you will lose the business!
  2. Make sure the address of your company is correct and try mapping yourself with our “Map It” tool. Note: we use the Google Mapping function and it can not find P.O. Boxes or other non-street addresses.
  3. When updating your Free Listing, you have the option to ‘save’ your work and come back to it. When you are ready to publish your listing and make it live, click the ‘submit’ button. Your Free Listing then goes to meetingscanada.com for approval and may take up to 2-3 business days to be posted live on the site.

7 Tips to Maximize your Extended Listing

  1. Keep your extended listing current. 90% of meeting planners research their meetings online. If they can’t contact you due to incomplete or incorrect information, you will lose the business!
  2. Please make sure the address of your company is correct and try mapping yourself with our “Map It” tool. Note: we use the Google Mapping function and it can not find P.O. Boxes or other non-street addresses.
  3. The website does not accept .eps or .tiff file formats.
  4. The ‘main image file’ represents your company throughout the site. We highly recommend this image is not your company logo but rather an actual picture of your product or service.
  5. Images – we recommend you upload images that are larger than thumbnails (over 72 dpi or web quality) to ensure your pictures are clear
  6. You have the ability to upload a video. Please note that the .wmv format is the most widely used format for videos on the Internet and we recommend using this format.
  7. Upload unlimited documents. Why do this? Every document you upload will be included in every search a meeting planners does (our search engine searches the content of your documents too). We suggest you upload things like press releases, menus, floor plans, sample itineraries, how to get to your property, what else groups can do in and around your location, etc.
