The Robey to Open in Chicago in November

BERLIN — The Robey, featuring 69 guestrooms, is planning to open in downtown Chicago in November, it was announced last month.

016-ds-therobeywebSituated at the six corners of Damen, Milwaukee and North Avenue, The Robey’s 69 rooms are split across 12 floors. Rooms and suites range from 215 to 258 square feet, and all feature a shower and a king-size bed, apart from the Landmark Queen room that features a queen-size bed. The Corner and Panorama Suites and the Landmark Queen room also feature a sitting area. All rooms and suites also offer views of the Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods, while The Panorama Suite affords 180-degree views of Chicago’s skyline.

Hotel amenities include Café Robey, a second-floor lounge, a guest-only rooftop lounge, and, come 2017, a rooftop pool.

Helming the ground-floor Café Robey is chef Bradley Stellings whose cooking style incorporates French-American influences and is served in an industrial-tinged space under double height ceilings.

Private 13th-floor rooftop lounge Up & Up features low-slung sofas lining the indoor bar area. An outdoor space serves nightcaps in the shadow of The Robey’s heavens-bound spire. Opening spring 2017 are a rooftop pool, and full-service restaurant Cabana Club, which will serve a Greek-inspired menu.

The 12-story building features an Art Deco façade of original limestone and a rooftop cupola and lantern. Herringbone hardwood floors contrast with Art Deco accents in many of the rooms and suites, while bathrooms and bedrooms are separated by walls of chicken-wire glass.
