Glasgow’s Scottish Exhibition + Conference Centre (SECC) is the first U.K. meeting venue to fix prices at the current exchange rate.
The new price guarantee allows buyers to take full advantage of the devaluation of the Sterling, which has effectively rendered the SECC 25-per-cent cheaper than it was two years ago in the international market.
Since the beginning of the year, both the Sterling and the Euro have fallen against the U.S. dollar, with the fall of the Sterling more dramatic.
“By guaranteeing our prices at the exchange rate for the date of when a contract is signed by the organizer, we are able to pass on unparalleled shavings and take the risk out of currency fluctuations for our clients,” said Ben Goedegebuure, director of sales at the SECC, who made the announcement this week at IMEX 2009, in Frankfurt, Germany.
