New Holiday Inn Express Opens in St. John's

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites St. John’s International Airport is now open. The 120-room property has a total of 1,800 square feet of event space.

The property, which is managed by Urgo Hotels Canada and owned by MP Limited Partnership, is located right at St. John’s International Airport. It is helmed by general manager Greg Ivany.

“We are delighted to continue to expand the growing network of Holiday Inn Express hotels in Canada’s northeast coast and are especially pleased to have Greg Ivany leading the hotel opening,” said Serge Primeau, vice-president of operations and development at Urgo Hotels Canada. “Greg and his team of dedicated managers combined with great leadership from the local owners have driven this project to a successful opening.”

The ownership entity is a partnership between the Penney Group, led by Gail Penney, and Regal Realty, led by Bill Mahoney, both of whom are prominent local business people. Their input and involvement in all aspects of the project, combined with the outstanding work of project manager Jason Harnum, was instrumental in delivering the hotel on time and on budget. Their investment also created several direct and indirect new jobs in St. John’s.

The five-floor property is the latest addition to the global Holiday Inn Express portfolio. Designed as a reflection of the vibrancy of St. John’s, its interior design is inspired by local artists and the city’s distinct bright hues.

Guestroom features and amenities include:

♦ custom artwork by St. John’s-born artist James Miller

♦ Smart TV with pre-loaded apps (Netflix, Facebook and YouTube)

Hotel features include:

♦ state-of-the-art WiFi in all guestrooms, meeting rooms and lobby

♦ indoor pool and fitness center
