Starwood Hotels has opened Element New York Times Square West, marking the brand’s debut in the city.
The 418-room property is “one of the city’s greenest properties and an eco-haven located in the centre of fast-paced Times Square.”
Element is the first major hotel brand to mandate that all its properties pursue Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
Guestrooms and public spaces feature carpets, furniture and floors made from recycled content. Wall art is mounted on bases made from recycled tires. Low-VOC paints improve indoor air quality. Guestrooms are equipped with Energy Star-rated appliances, and recycling bins and the “Do Not Disturb” sign has been replaced with an environmentally friendly magnet.
The property features two meeting spaces with full AV services, free wireless Internet access and teleconferencing system. As well, guests will enjoy Motion, the state-of-the-art, 24-hour fitness centre.
