Starwood Hotels & Resorts debuted its new guestroom designs for Westin and Sheraton hotels this week.

The new Westin and Sheraton guestrooms are designed to reflect each brand’s personality. For instance, the Westin rooms are inspired by natural elements and feature a neutral colour palette, wood and stone, and evoke a sense of balance. The Sheraton rooms feature rich colour palettes and modern interpretations of classic herringbone, basket-weave and geometric patterns to portray a sense of heritage and occasion.

Beyond that, both room schemes are functional in design. The Westin rooms feature accent tables that fold-out into a laptop tray, closets with shelves, LED reading lights in the headboards and an upholstered bench that doubles as a luggage rack. The Sheraton rooms include custom-built bedside tables with built-in outlets that face the bed and each room is equipped with an LED nightlights.

The first Westin hotel to showcase the new room design will be the Westin Phoenix, which is scheduled to open February 2011 and the Sheraton Red Deer in Alberta will debut the Sheraton’s new room scheme.
