Susur Lee Opens Casual Eatery in Toronto

Susur Lee.

Star chef Susur Lee has opened Bent, a casual eatery specializing in raw seafood along with cooked items, in downtown Toronto.

The restaurant is a family affair, with Susur in charge of the kitchen, his two sons, Kai and Levi Bent-Lee in charge of day-to-day operations, and his wife, Brenda Bent-Lee, spearheading the room’s design.

On the raw-fish side, dishes include spicy tuna tartare with avocado and salmon tartare with shallot and capers; and black-pepper charred scallops. Ceviche includes tuna with watermelon and fresh citrus juice.

On the hot-kitchen side, there’s steamed pork belly; smoked cod taro taco; and braised spiced short ribs.

The restaurant doesn’t accept reservations and seats guests on a first-come, first-served walk-in basis.
