In July, 2010, The Banff Centre will proudly unveil the modern elegance of the Kinnear Centre for Creativity and Innovation, a brand-new building that embodies the essentials of 21st century meetings. The Kinnear Centre features 21,000 sq. ft. of flexible function space, including 19 individual meeting rooms with breathtaking views of the surrounding Bow Valley. With its modern design features, including high ceilings, large windows and plenty of natural lighting, the Kinnear Centre offers flexible meeting spaces for large plenary sessions, small breakout rooms and tradeshow- exhibit booths.
Located on the first level of the Kinnear Centre, Husky Great Hall offers 5,920 sq. ft. of space, divisible into three sections. This space is ideal for banquets and special events for up to 500. On each of the second and third levels, the Kinnear Centre offers three large meeting rooms overlooking the Bow Valley, as well as five smaller breakout rooms which overlook the central green courtyard. Flexible meeting spaces range from 378 sq. ft. to 2,558 sq. ft., ensuring that every meeting is held in a uniquely-suited ambience that is conducive to achieving your event’s goals.
The Kinnear Centre’s contemporary design incorporates the elements of its surroundings, with plenty of glass and open spaces, including access to balconies and patios. The technologically advanced building includes state-of-the-art features, such as wired and wireless Internet, built-in audiovisual equipment and acoustically superb sound systems. The facility adheres to the modern standards of IACC (International Association of Conference Centres) and also features ergonomically-designed furnishings, independent climate controls in each meeting room and dimmable lighting. This building will also be serviced by a trendy café and will, on each floor, feature central coffee-break stations.
The Kinnear Centre was also designed to the rigorous standards of the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System, with the intent of pursuing LEED Silver designation. As a prominent resident structure in the heart of Banff National Park—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—The Banff Centre is committed to environmental performance in all of its operations. That commitment extends to supporting education and environmental awareness for all staff members, program participants and guests.
At the heart of all Banff Centre meetings, professional conference-services staff will attend to every detail of your Rocky Mountain meeting. The in-house catering team offers creative and diverse menus that will impress your guests, from the casual settings of buffets and barbecues, to the formal ambience of banquets and receptions. The Banff Centre also offers the added option of Vistas Dining Room, featuring fresh, market-style fare in a casual setting, providing floor-to-ceiling panoramic views. For a more formal dining experience, The Banff Centre’s critically acclaimed a la carte eatery, Three Ravens Restaurant, is open for evening dining and offers a creative menu and an excellent wine selection.
The Banff Centre features 72,000 sq. ft. of meeting space in 60 unique facilities, including meeting rooms, lecture theatres and auditoriums for up to 1,000. The venue also offers a diverse range of accommodations, as well as several dining options and a recreational facility. In 2011, the new Shaw Amphitheatre will enhance the Centre’s offerings as a concert venue, with a permanent stage and a capacity for up to 1,600.
Facing the breathtaking Bourgeau Range, the amphitheatre will provide inspirational views of the surrounding mountains.
