Toronto City Council has approved the HKHotels development planned for Exhibition Place.

Slated to begin construction in 2011 and open in 2013, the approved ‘Hotel in the Garden’ will be located south of Direct Energy Centre and adjacent to the new Allstream Centre conference venue.

Plans call for the 320-room, 26-storey hotel to be a year-round attraction, featuring resort-style amenities suitable for incentive travel groups.

Conforming to Toronto Green Standard for New Construction, the property will target a LEED Silver rating and will feature extensive green landscaped areas.

Also included in the hotel plan are linkages to a renovated Stanley Barracks and Direct Energy Centre and Allstream Centre.

Underground parking will accommodate 400 cars and feature two access ramps.

HKHotels operates four boutique hotels in New York City.
