Chill Ice House, Toronto’s first ice bar and lounge, is now open and available for group buyouts.
Located at 82 Bathurst Street, adjacent to the city’s Entertainment District and close to downtown hotels, this cool new venue is owned and operated by brothers Nic and Gresham Bayley, sons of event pro Cass Bayley, CMP, CMM.
Before opening Chill Ice House, the brothers honed their skills working at Iceculture, a company founded by their uncle, Julian Bayley. Iceculture, which is located in Hensall, ON, designs and manufactures major ice installations globally. Together Nic and Gresham built some 20 ice lounges in locations around the world, including hotspots like Dubai, the Greek Islands, Thailand, Las Vegas and India as well as in chillier climates like Boston. Now with Chill Ice House they’ve created Canada’s first—and the world’s largest—permanent ice lounge.
The facility is comprised of three main sections: the reception area where guests don ice capes featuring cozy, light synthetic insulation and faux fur-trimmed hoods and gloves; the 1,200-square-foot ice bar with a 52-person capacity; and a 1,200-square-foot bar/lounge in the back (capacity 58) where visitors shed their ice capes, warm up and party on.
The ice bar/lounge is kept at a constant -5° Celsius. Its fixtures include a solid ice bar, ice walls, ice seating and ice DJ booth as well as ice sculptures and ice glasses. All the ice is made from Lake Huron water. Guests are admitted for a 45-minute stay.
According to Gresham Bayley, the venue is more than a bar/lounge. It’s also a family-friendly destination where kids can enjoy ice sculptures such as Olaf from the movie Frozen as well as ice versions of the CN Tower, The World Cup and the Stanley Cup until 8:00 p.m.
Buyouts of Chill Ice House include:
- 45 minutes of exclusive access for guests
- rental of insulated capes and gloves for guests
- opportunity to purchase add-ons such as customized ice sculptures, logos on reception TVs or a signature drink
