Senior Planners Industry Network (SPIN) made its Canadian debut at a roundtable in Toronto.

Held Oct. 5 at Hard Rock Café, the Think Tank event convened about a dozen senior Canadian meeting and planners to discuss industry issues such as contract negotiations and the future of meetings.

Event sponsors included the Hard Rock Cafe, Travel Alberta and Fort Myers Sanibel CVB.

SPIN was founded two years ago by Shawna Suckow, CMP, in St. Paul, Minn., and provides a network strictly for those with 10-plus years of full-time planning experience.

Currently, SPIN has almost 2,000 members, most located in North America (about 10-per-cent are Canadian, says Suckow).

SPIN partners with two other networks, NEXT, for those with five to nine years full-time planning experience, and IN, for emerging planners.
