Victoria University in the University of Toronto

Victoria University, in the University of Toronto, nestled inside the U of T campus in the heart of Toronto’s downtown core, provides an intimate, small-village-like setting, making it an ideal meeting environment for smaller groups.

Still, Victoria University remains a fully equipped conference centre capable of accommodating up to 500 people. It offers three academic buildings, containing 35 meeting rooms, most of which are smart classrooms with built-in data projectors.

These range in size from 20-person seminar rooms to lecture rooms hosting up to 150 people. The spaces are fully available from May to August. Some can also be rented on evenings and weekends year-round.

One of the university’s most popular structures is the architecturally impressive Victoria College Building, or “Old Vic.” Built in the 1890s, it has been preserved with its Victorian charm intact, including brick walls, high ceilings and wood panels. The Isabel Bader Theatre, which seats 500, is an award-winning entertainment/lecture theatre.

Another highlight is the Burwash Dining Hall, with huge, high, gothic-looking lead windows, long tables and a look that is reminiscent of the dining halls of Oxford or Cambridge. In the summer months, a full, hot, all-you-can-eat-style breakfast is served, included with accommodation.

Daytime catering provides food for a wide variety of meals, receptions, banquets and coffee breaks across campus.

Victoria University Residences provide comfortable, affordable lodgings for up to 500. Single- and twin-bedded rooms are equipped as study bedrooms. In each room, fresh linen, towels and soap are provided and hardwired Internet access is available.

Although close to the hustle and bustle of the city, Victoria University’s beautifully kept grounds, with two quads, majestic trees and beautifully maintained gardens, offer a park-like setting to suit a more relaxed pace.
