Visit Baltimore Introduces App for Planners

Visit Baltimore’s new Baltimore InSite app transforms a large database of photos, attractions, and meeting venues into a three-dimensional mapping tour that can be accessed by meeting professionals researching and booking conventions and meetings in the city.  It is available free for iPad2 or greater.

“We have spent more than a year perfecting this online tool to provide meeting planners with an extensive summary of Baltimore’s event spaces and attractions, including images and booking options,” said Tom Noonan, president and CEO, Visit Baltimore. “What began as a presentation by a Baltimore architecture firm to illustrate new developments in the city has emerged as the ultimate tool for meeting professionals. We are proud to be the first destination to offer such a comprehensive tool.”

Baltimore InSite allows planners to see:

  • downtown Baltimore and nearby neighborhoods street by street and building by building
  • the Baltimore Convention Center floor by floor
  • how many hotels would be needed to assemble a room block
  • locate and learn about venues, restaurants and private dining facilities

Once meeting professionals have selected a particular property, museum, attraction or restaurant, the app provides a web link to the homepage, a detailed description of the business, a selection of images, a summary of the meeting space or private dining facilities and a map with the direct location. The app can be used to visually demonstrate the walkability and locations of hotels and venues to key decision makers who perhaps can’t travel to Baltimore before weighing in on a destination decision and by attendees once they arrive in Baltimore to navigate their way around town.

The new app also showcases transportation routes, including the fast, free and green Charm City Circulator hybrid buses.  Planners can take the Circulator routes into consideration during the planning process, with an on the ground “eye” to the best ways to move attendees around a very walkable city.  InSite not only plots the routes, but also displays vehicle locations.
