The Westin Nova Scotian has created a special mocktail inspired by Toronto Mayor Rob Ford with the goal of shaking-up the fundraising scene.
The Fordian Slip is an antioxidant-rich blend of mulled de café chai tea, marmalade, honey, orange and cinnamon, all of which are on Westin’s menu of super foods. The mocktail was introduced in the hotel’s bar, Roy’s Lounge, just in time for National Addictions Awareness Week (November 18-24). The hotel will donate the full $3 cost of each mocktail sold through November 30 to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
“At the Westin, our entire focus is on the guest’s well-being,” said bartender John-Allen Moore. “Mayor Ford has presented us with a once-in-a-lifetime teaching moment about the dangers of addiction and we sincerely hope that he gets well soon. Hopefully, our cheeky little promotion can raise some money for an important cause and help start a conversation on a very difficult topic that affects far too many families. Maybe it will even inspire the mayor to get the help he needs.”
