New hotels have recently opened in Mexico City and others are poised to open their doors in the coming months. The dynamic hotel scene is a reflection of the Mexico City Ministry of Tourism’s new focus on developing fresh integrated tourism products such as bicycle tours, a gastronomy tour and religious attractions.
Here are three of the most recent hotel developments:
- Hilton Hotels & Resorts will open the 260-room Hilton Santa Fe Mexico City in the spring of 2014. Part of a mixed-use development which also includes corporate offices and a shopping centre, the hotel will offer 8,000 square feet of meeting space, a signature restaurant, a lobby lounge, a rooftop pool and fitness center.
- The 160 all-suite Le Méridien Mexico City – the 71st Starwood hotel in the region and the seventh in Mexico City – opened in March in the city’s financial and cultural district. The hotel offers a fitness center, pool, and an all-day restaurant.
- Located in the exclusive Polanco District, the five-star JW Marriott Mexico City is in the midst of a $30 million renovation to upgrade several areas including their 312 guest rooms, plus the lobby, bar, fitness center, spa and new Mexican-inspired restaurant. The hotel also offers nine meeting rooms with a total of 9,386 square feel. The renovation is scheduled to be completed this fall.
