What’s new on Mexico City’s hotel scene?

New hotels have recently opened in Mexico City and others are poised to open their doors in the coming months. The dynamic hotel scene is a reflection of the Mexico City Ministry of Tourism’s new focus on developing fresh integrated tourism products such as bicycle tours, a gastronomy tour and religious attractions.

Here are three of the most recent hotel developments:

  • Hilton Hotels & Resorts will open the 260-room Hilton Santa Fe Mexico City in the spring of 2014.  Part of a mixed-use development which also includes corporate offices and a shopping centre, the hotel will offer 8,000 square feet of meeting space, a signature restaurant, a lobby lounge, a rooftop pool and fitness center.
  •  The 160 all-suite Le Méridien Mexico City – the 71st Starwood hotel in the region and the seventh in Mexico City – opened in March in the city’s financial and cultural district.  The hotel offers a fitness center, pool, and an all-day restaurant.
  • Located in the exclusive Polanco District, the five-star JW Marriott Mexico City is in the midst of a $30 million renovation to upgrade several areas including their 312 guest rooms, plus the lobby, bar, fitness center, spa and new Mexican-inspired restaurant. The hotel also offers nine meeting rooms with a total of 9,386 square feel. The renovation is scheduled to be completed this fall.
