TORONTO, Ont. — Newcom Media, the parent company of the IncentiveWorks Show (August 14-15 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre), today announced a reorganization of brands under its umbrella. MeetingsCanada.com, the online buyers’ guide, e-newsletters, and Hall of Fame program will now be operated as daily industry touch points under the IncentiveWorks banner.
Meetings + Incentive Travel Magazine will no longer publish a print edition.
When asked about the change, Newcom Media President Joe Glionna said, “Over the past 12 months I have attended shows around the world, seeing how other markets and industries are adapting to changes in media habits. What became clear to me is that IncentiveWorks is not just a two-day annual trade show — it has the potential to connect planners with venues, ideas, and information 365 days a year.”
“I’m proud of the high-quality work our team created for M+IT magazine, but sponsors and advertisers encouraged us to change direction and introduce new ideas, experiential platforms,” Glionna added. “Print magazines are thriving in many of our industries, just not this one. That’s OK! Think of how well an online buyers’ guide with dynamic videos and content jives with exhibitors at a live event.”
When pushed for details about the Hall of Fame program and an announcement at the show, IncentiveWorks Director of Events Melissa Arnott would only say; “I can tell you, the excitement in our office surrounding the Hall of Fame is crazy. We’re looking to change up the live format and bring something spectacular, not just for the Hall of Fame, but for the industry,” she said. “This won’t be ready until 2019, but details will start to be revealed next month. As for another announcement? I don’t know, you’ll have to come to IncentiveWorks to find out.”
