Vancouver Convention Centre Appoints New Director of Sales

Michelle Leroux

The Vancouver Convention Centre  has appointed Michelle Leroux as its new director of sales following an extensive recruitment search across North America.

Leroux joins the convention Ccentre with 20 years of experience leading sales teams at five hotel properties across Canada, bringing comprehensive background in developing sales and space utilization strategies, coaching teams and collaborating with industry partners.

“With Michelle’s extensive background working at some of Canada’s largest convention hotels, she is an excellent choice to lead our high performing sales team,” said Claire Smith, vice-president, Sales and Marketing, Vancouver Convention Centre. “With the level of success we have experienced since opening our West Building nine years ago, we are excited to have Michelle’s new perspective to refresh our strategies and to take our facility to the next level.”

Most recently, Leroux was director of sales and marketing at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown, and previously she was the director of sales and marketing at the Sheraton Centre Hotel Toronto. She has also been an active member of the Vancouver Hotel Destination Association and has fostered strong industry relationships in the local hotel and hospitality community.

“While working at the nearby Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown, I had the opportunity to work closely with the Vancouver Convention Centre team to help bring conventions to our city,” said Leroux. “I was always impressed with the passion the team had for going above and beyond providing a location for people to meet. The focus on sustainability, giving back to our community and hosting thought leaders from around the world is something I am excited to contribute to.”

Leroux further added, “I’m motivated to work with the sales team to introduce new creative ideas that will continue to ensure that we are a convention destination of choice for events, as well as to facilitate meaningful connections between our local community and the attendees of our events.”
